Introduction
Are you a learner outside India interested to join and register for the exams?
Learning from NPTEL is open to learners from all around the globe. You can study from NPTEL courses and earn a certificate irrespective of the country you are from.
Exam Centers in certain cities outside India
NPTEL is setting up modalities to conduct in-person exams in as many countries as possible. Currently, we conduct in-person exams in the following cities outside India.
If you are residing in any one of the following countries, you will be writing your exam at the exam center. You have to bring your laptop to the centre to write the exam. Please ensure that you participate in the System Compatibility Test prior to the exam to ensure that the exam launcher works well in your laptop / computer.
UAE - Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi
Sri Lanka - Colombo, Jaffna
Oman - Muscat
Bahrain - Manama
Kuwait - Salmiya
Remote proctored exams for students residing in other countries
Candidates from all around the globe took part in the NPTEL exams, which were proctored remotely. A few examples of cities are shown below.
Selecting Exam Cities
In the City selection page, you have to select the state as 'Outside India', and then you can select which country you want to take the exam. If your country is not listed here, please choose OTHER.
Fees
You need to pay 4000 INR per course for Bahrain and Kuwait & 3000 INR per course for other countries in the registration form.
System Compatibility Test (SCT)*
Prior to the exam date, all candidates residing outside India need to participate in a System Compatibility Test, irrespective of whether you are taking centre based exams in cities outside India OR in remote proctored manner.

These are instructions with respect to the exam launcher for students residing outside India. Requesting candidates to go through the same and follow all the instructions for you to have a smooth experience during your System Compatibility Test and exam day. Email with all instructions will be sent to candidates after payment has been received & exam registration process is completed.

Proof Submission
You need to submit the documents listed below in the registration form. Our team will verify the proofs submitted by you and only if it is approved, you will be eligible to write the exams.
