Prof. Sudib Kumar Mishra

Dr. Sudib K. Mishra is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Kanpur. He had his bachelor's in Civil Engineering from the formerly Bengal Engineering College, now Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur in 2003. This was followed by his masters in Structural Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 2005 and doctoral study from the University of Arizona, USA in the year of 2009. Thereafter, he worked as a post-doctoral associate in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department in the University of California, Irvine. Prof. Mishra has research interests in Vibration and structural dynamics, Vibration based structural health monitoring, Probabilistic safety assessment, Structural stability and Computational Mechanics. He has authored more than fifty journal publications across various international journal of repute. He also presented his research works in various national and international conferences and delivered a number of invited presentation on various topics.

Other than his research, Prof. Mishra is actively involved in teaching a number of courses in IIT Kanpur, both at the undergraduate as well as in post-graduate levels. He was awarded the Excellence-in-Teaching, Certificate of excellence in teaching by the IIT Kanpur Senate several times. He is also active in teaching in various quality improvement courses organized by the institute. Professor Mishra has supervised five doctoral thesis, two others are nearing completion and several are in progress. He has also supervised around twenty five master's dissertation. Professor Mishra is actively involved in various research and consultancy projects funded by the governmental and nongovernmental industrial/research organizations.

In appreciation of his academic activities, Prof. Mishra was awarded the Young engineer award in the year of 2016 by the Indian National Academy of Engineering, the Young Engineer Award in the year of 2013 by the Institute of Engineers and Young Faculty Research fellowship by the class of 1979 Alumni of IIT Kanpur.
