Rate laws and rate constant
  • Rate law is a mathematical expression, which relates the decreases in concentration of a reactant with time and it is determined experimentally.
  • Order of reaction :-the power to which the concentration term of reactant is raised in the rate equation determine the order of reaction. Order of reaction has no relation with stoichiometry of reactant.

  • Rate =k[A]m here m represents order of the reaction with respect to reactant (A in the present case).
  • Larger the value of k is the faster will be the reaction.
  • k is independent of concentration.
